Everyone who goes to Heaven Fest this year will be amazed and super-happy about the improvements in the traffic plan. In fact, that's a BIG reason we moved the festival to Longmont in the first place. Traffic from the East, West, North and South will all approach from Highway 119, which has wider, safer lanes, and we will have help from the State Patrol to keep things moving smoothly getting in and leaving the festival site.

Safety is our first concern. And the city, county and State Patrol want to make sure Heaven Fest is the safest environment possible. Because the concert gets out around midnight, there are serious concerns about tons of bikes (some without the proper lighting) and pedestrians being released onto County, State and local highways and roads late at night.

As you may know, Highway 119 is heavily used, and there is no sidewalk at all there. Therefore, the intersection of County Line Rd. (WCR 1) and Deerwood Dr. / Weld County Road 26 would have been the best place for foot traffic and bicycle traffic. But there is a sidewalk only on the west side of WCR 1. Most importantly, there is no crosswalk or signal there. Deerwood Dr. / WCR 26 is also the designated route for all emergency vehicles, vendors and production (band) traffic, so that we can keep things moving fast for concert-goers over on Hwy 119. It was a compromise decision between the public safety officials and Heaven Fest.

Thanks giving us a chance to explain what's behind the new Heaven Fest traffic plan. We know the traffic plan is not perfect. We know there is an environmental impact, but for this year, it's the best, safest solution for the most people.
